More useless crap - online names

So, I had this really depressing, melancholy post about some crap or another that I was moping about a while ago.

Well - screw that.

This is about science.
Or something.

So, the inspiration of the day is this: I have 'been' Junkpc for a bit over 10 years, as well as I can remember. So, what about you?
Do you use one name - primarily - online as *your* name?
Do you try to make sure that you're the only one online?
How long have you had this name?
What was its origin - or when did you first use it?
Are you very attached to it?

My answers:
Yes - it's junkpc. I have one other that's a standby, and one that's well - pretty much my real name.
I do like to be the only junkpc. I think I am well on the way, except that I don't think I have Yahoo. I also haven't bothered with MySpace, either. (Think I should?)
Like I said before - about 10 years.
It originated on AOL - my first ISP. I don't remember what my first choices were that were rejected; I just know that I did not want numbers after whatever I got.
I think I am pretty attached to it; I mean, like I said before - I like having 'my' name.
I am junkpc - and that's how it is.

Feel free to pass this on - but I want some replies.
Dammit.

Yes. Lohquesse IS my online name. I also use this name at conventions.

    >Do you try to make sure that you're >the only one online?
I have never checked to see if anyone else has used my name, but anytime I have signed up for something new it is available

    >How long have you had this name?
    Lordy...since 1994? I think? Damn thats a long time.

    >What was its origin - or when did you >first use it?
I was going to Disclave, before the big disaster of Disc-wave, and I had dyed my hair green and was wearing red sunglasses. Gelf and Pi (and others, damn if *I* can remember who, NOW) picked me up at the metro and Pi called me Loki. In the wee hours of the morning (well, later that evening I guess) I asked Pi to give me a new name. He took Loki and we feminized it.

    >Are you very attached to it?
VERY. I really like my online name because I believe it is unique. It is also very much like me. I have played with other names in the past, but this one stuck...

    2. Like it - but typically don't care.
    3. nearly 13 years I think.
    4. MUDdin on EOTL.
    5. I was maybe the first 5 years. Now it's just something that I easily remember.

Hmm.. My very first online name was SaySimon on Qlink. I've used Akai Ryu, and have pretty much been the only Akai Ryu (other than a venus flytrap that I discovered was indirectly named after me), for over 16 years.

Do you use one name - primarily - online as *your* name?

It used to be akairyu, now I have 3 I use depending on where I am, and whether I want to be known. My primary name is snaydragon now. Akairyu got too much junk, and was unpronounceable to most people.

Do you try to make sure that you're the only one online?

No, but I usually am the only one.

How long have you had this name?

SNayDragon: ~3 years. Akairyu: ~16 years. The others: ~5-7 years.

What was its origin - or when did you first use it?

Akairyu, I *thought* meant Red Dragon in Japanese. Turns out it's jibberish. Ah well. SNayDragon, to those who know me is pretty obvious.

Are you very attached to it?

    Quite, thank you.

    1. I primarilly use, usethe4sluke as most of my user id's.

    2. I don't try to be the only one online but I usually do try it first whenever I sign up for something.

    3. Wow, about 11 years I'd say.

    4. My first online service came with AOL. They said I had to use a number and letter combo as an ID. Now I found out much later I didn't HAVE to use a combo... they just suggested it. So I signed up as usethe4sluke. The rest is history.

    5. Yes I am attached to it.

Yes, when its not something I have to be identifiable for. I had another that I used, but it didn't stick as well.

Do you try to make sure that you're the only one online?

Yup, but I know I'm not

How long have you had this name?

8 years or so, maybe longer?

What was its origin - or when did you first use it?

I think it was when I signed up for AOHell mail back when they were still doing the pay by the month for a number of hours... Like Junkpc, I didn't want numbers after my name, so I kept working at it until I found something that no one else on AOL had thought of.

Are you very attached to it?

Yes, very. Its nice to know that I have it, and I'm the original (regardless of what others think)

    ^.^"

    online sine the early 90's

What was its origin - or when did you first use it?

the origin is simply my name as screamed aloud by 50000 people in a stadium.

Anyways, been da kets for the better part of 13 years. Comcast sucks, when it went to .net years back, I was unable to be plain Dakets and had to add a 2 at the end.

Then name was a drunk shortening from the user id you, Mr. Junkpc, gave me - felisket.

    Oh well, nuff babble, later.
